一般社団法人Protect Our Winters Japan（POW JAPAN）について

Protect Our Winters（POW）は、気候危機から「冬を守る」ためのムーブメント。2007年、気候変動が滑り手にとって大切なフィールドである雪山に大きな影響を与えることに危機感を感じたプロスノーボーダーのJEREMY JONESが仲間たちとともに米国でPOWを設立。その後、POWの活動は世界13ヶ国に広まり、日本では2019年からスノーボーダーの小松吾郎を中心に、POW JAPANの活動がスタートしました。「行動する仲間たちを増やす」「スノータウンのサステナブルを促す」「市民の立場から社会の変化を促す」の3つを軸に、長野県白馬エリアを拠点に、全国のスノーコミュニティへと活動を広げています。

Protect Our Winters (POW) is a movement to “protect winter” from the climate crisis. In 2007, feeling a sense of urgency about the impact of climate change on the snowy mountains, an important field for skiers, professional snowboarder JEREMY JONES founded POW in the U.S. with a group of friends., POW’s activities have spread to 13 countries around the world, and in Japan, POW JAPAN started in 2019, led by snowboarder Goro Komatsu. Based in the Hakuba area of Nagano Prefecture, POW Japan is expanding its activities to snow communities across Japan with three main objectives: to increase the number of friends who take action, to promote sustainability in snow towns, and to encourage social change from a citizen’s perspective.
